Description

Finally this is the fifth and final version of my Before the War painting. Many improvements, a remake of the sky, color variations, unicorns eye and neck, shading and some other details are fixed.

This took 40+ hours in Adobe Photoshop using a Wacom Intuos A4. Its original size is about 5000 pixel high in 300dpi. A3+ print ready. Original concept.

I have saved about 20+ step by step pictures on how i created this painting. See links or visit my portfolio for more information.

Hope you like.

i LOVE the way you do your sky-very very exceptionally beautiful. i love the moon, and the shaft of light...and wow, you've done wonderful. i also love how you've framed it with the foliage, and the colors are superb, way to go, definately way to go. :)

Nice Sky and environment - - - IMHO, the unicorn could use a little more detail, and definition in muscles - especially the hind quarters. Good job.

oof. that sky. incredible.

ditto on the unicorn. it could definitely use more detail and defining of the muscles. for the time being, it conveys somewhat of a smudgy texture more than anything else.

Thank you!
Actually the unicorn has too much detail.. and they are smudged when resized.
I have painted almost every "hair" on the unicorns body, but then the resolution is 5000pixels, 300 dpi and shrunk to 640 :(
Some muscle work, ok. Noted for next unicorn ;)

Take care

Umm your unicorn is unporportional, the left chest bone sticks out too far and his muzzle is too wide. In order to support a head of that magnitude the neck would be under much strain. Otherwise it's so perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!

That sky is quite good...though yes, your unicorn lacks in the horse anatomy department. And no big deal, but the little bird looks like he's about to fall over backward lol...sorry...anyway...pretty nice overall...

I absolutely love the sky (as well as the fabulous shade of blue!), and your wonderful trademark mossy foliage frames it beautifully.

Wow that's so beautiful For once I see a real unicorn...instead of a horse with horn on its head, well done! ;)
